ITV Christmas Carols with the Troops receives 2.3 million viewers

Christmas Carols with the Troops, presented by Sir Trevor MacDonald, featuring performances by Hayley Westenra, Faryl Smith, Camilla Kerslake, The Soldiers and the Band of the Coldstream Guards was broadcast on Christmas Eve and received 2.3 million viewers, a higher figure than that of the BBC’s act of worship broadcasted at the same time.

Filmed at St Clement Danes Church, the program, which featured messages from troops on the frontline, was part of ITV’s Far From Home week. Interviews with the family members, who will be without their loved ones this Christmas Eve, were also a highlight.

The congregation was made up of service men and women, who sang along to well known carols to show their appreciation to the men and women serving this Christmas.

One viewer wrote in to say ‘... the production team are to be further highly praised for your above tribute to our Troops in Afghanistan tonight in Christmas songs and prayers for our Troops, presented by the lovely Sir Trevor MacDonald. I know St Clement Danes is considered the RAF UK Church but in your tribute it was “brothers-in-Arms” from the Navy, Army & the RAF and all their families united together. I wish I had been there ... very moving.’

Back2Back would like to say thank you to everyone involved in making this beautiful church service happen.
