Leading filmmakers flock to Brighton for 2010 SEE Documentary Film Festival

From 19th-21st February SEE 2010, the Documentary film festival, will celebrate its 5th anniversary, with some of the most exciting, inspiring and influential people in the industry.

The weekend long festival of documentaries, organised by Back2Back productions ltd, will showcase the work of some of the UK’s most respected documentary filmmakers with screenings, seminars and special events with the leading lights in the industry. The festival opens with an evening event from celebrated documentary filmmaker Louis Theroux, in association with BAFTA and Screen South. Louis Theroux said “I feel very flattered to have been asked to be part of the SEE festival. I'm looking forward to meeting some talented filmmakers, young and old, and immersing myself in the friendly and informed culture that is the world of documentaries”

The event takes place at the Corn Exchange on Friday 19th February. Tickets are on sale at the Corn Exchange/Brighton Dome box office. Another first for SEE will be the world premiere of ‘Dom Jolly In Search of Tintin’ commissioned for Channel 4 and produced by Back2Back. This hilarious documentary looks at the success of the comic books and follows Dom Jolly as he visits the various locations featured in the Tin Tin series. Simon Shaps (ex ITV Director of Television) will be holding a Q&A with internet sensation Lauren Luke. Joining the session will be Youtube and Iphone representatives to discuss what made Lauren the overnight international success. SEE continues over the weekend with talks and screenings from Daisy Asquith, Clare Lewis, Penny Woolcock, Marc Francis, Jerry Rothwell, Marc Isaacs, and festival patrons Luke Holland and Nick Broomfield, all of whom will be giving up and coming and experienced film makers alike the chance to ask questions about their experiences in production. SEE has always been based around the idea of sharing information, knowledge and new techniques for film makers and for that reason we will also have seminars held by leading broadcasters and other organisations including Shooting People, Channel 4, and Al Jazeera. Many more will be announced over the coming weeks.
