The One World Broadcasting Trust was established in 1987 to help promote a greater understanding between developed and under developed countries through the use of broadcasting. It aids young film makers, as well as establish broadcasters, to utilise the media in such a way as to establish links between the two. Through this they aim to raise awareness on issues of universal human rights, interdependence of countries, environmental issues and politics. Its flagship event The One World Media Awards, hosted by their patron Jon Snow, recognises the achievements of media professionals in furthering the understanding of international affairs.
